Synergine’s engineering design team worked with project partners Fletcher Construction and Beca to deliver value engineering and detailed design for the stormwater component of the Victoria Park Tunnel project in downtown Auckland.  The role also encompassed engagement with stakeholders, including local iwi, NZTA and the local businesses, for this project being undertaken in a very high-profile part of the city’s waterfront.

Working in close collaboration with other design and construction teams, Synergine successfully coordinated the stormwater design and ensured buildability of the stormwater collection and treatment infrastructure on State Highway 1 between Victoria Park and the Harbour Bridge.

The team’s technical expertise enabled an optimal design within a highly constrained context. This included meeting a key design requirement of optimising the reuse of a significant portion of the existing drainage infrastructure.  In achieving this the costs associated with the need to provide new infrastructure elements were reduced, and the resulting volume of associated construction waste, and the cost of its disposal, were also avoided.
